Hey gang – wanted to share my experience working through the P0171 and P0174 (too lean bank 1 and too lean bank 2) codes. 2003 Tahoe LT 5.3 flex fuel engine, 79,700, bone stock.
P0171and p0174 code can be caused by : The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. I have a 2004 Silverado Z71, 5.3 with 154K miles. Other than this problem the ruck runs great. I had the fuel lines and fuel pump replaced two months ago and after that, I started to get the P0171 and P0174 (bank 1 and 2 lean) and the long term fuel trims "LTFT" are 18-25% (both) There were no signs of issues cold or warm.
